BTEC Foundation Award in ICT (Online)This interactive online course allows students and adults to learn at their own pace how to correctly apply basic skills in Microsoft Office applications in an appropriate context. The implementation and teaching of ICT across the curriculum is supported by this new online courseware. It offers schools an online teaching and learning resource that can help to improve the ICT skills of the whole school community and to engage with parents through providing online learning at home.
The Level 1 BTEC Foundation Award in ICT (online) is designed to specifically meet the needs of junior school pupils aged 9-12 in independent and international schools as well as of other starters in ICT. The qualification will equip individuals with the foundation knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for confident and competent use of ICT, appropriate for new learners. It also provides a strong base for smooth progression on to Level 2 qualifications in ICT including GCSE and the BTEC Intermediate Award in ICT (online). The course has been developed at Dulwich College in London in collaboration with local preparatory schools. It reflects current needs and is designed by IT staff with a good understanding of wider curriculum programmes. This knowledge is reflected in the relationship of the two units in the qualification. The first unit builds general computing and software application skills that are applied across the curriculum in unit two. The monitoring of achievement built into the qualification means headteachers can be confident of the quality and consistency of pupils’ ICT attainment across the school. Aims of the course The BTEC Foundation Award in ICT (online) is designed to meet the following aims:
